Article 370 Review: Yami Gautam starrer ‘Article 370’ released at the box office today. This is the best film ever made on Kashmir and terrorism. The film has been produced by Aditya Dhar. Aditya’s 2019 film ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ not only gave Bollywood a young superstar – Vicky Kaushal but also set an example for Indian war films. Strong camera work, never seen before strike sequences, excellent direction and excellent editing attracted the audience and it proved to be a blockbuster. Five years later, Aditya Dhar has brought ‘Article 370’, which shows the economic, social and political problems of Kashmir. However, this time he has not directed this film. Its director is Aditya Suhas Jambhale.

‘Article 370’ may not be as crisp and sleek as ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ but it still manages to leave its mark. Ajay Devgan’s narration in the beginning of the film sets the tone of the film. It revolves around ID field officer Zuni Haksar, who succeeds in killing a Mujahideen, Burhan Wani, in an encounter. This has a devastating impact on Kashmir. People protest against his death and pelt stones at the army. Terrorism has increased further. Juni has been suspended from ID and sent to Delhi. Where now she provides security during weddings in the homes of ministers.

This continues until PMO Joint Secretary Rajeshwari Swaminathan approaches him to bring stability in Kashmir, remove Article 370 and lead the NIA. This gives Zuni an opportunity to return to Kashmir and bring back ‘peace’ to the valley. Pulwama attack and diplomacy of separatist leaders and officials are seen in the film.

Excellent cinematography of ‘Article 370’

‘Article 370’ has been filmed at some real locations in Kashmir. Siddharth Vasani has captured the cinematographer of Kashmir on many cameras. The fragrance of the valley comes from every frame of his. The script of the film is amazing. In 2 hours 40 minutes, ‘Article 370’ manages to keep you engaged to a great extent. The makers show the origin of the story in the first part of the film and it picks up pace after the interval. The second part of the film looks a bit wide.
